About Kochrab Ashram

Kochrab Ashram, located in Ahmedabad, is a historic site that holds significant importance in the country's struggle for independence. Established in 1915, it served as a residence for Mahatma Gandhi during his stay in Ahmedabad & played a significant part in encouraging Satyagraha and non-violence in the Indian freedom movement.


Kochrab Ashram was the first ashram established by Mahatma Gandhi in Ahmedabad. Prior to the establishment of the Sabarmati Ashram, Kochrab Ashram served as Gandhi's residence along with his wife, Kasturba Gandhi, and several other individuals who dedicated themselves to the cause of independence.
