Daulatabad Fort in Aurangabad is also known as Devgiri fort and one of the historical places of Maharashtra. The main attraction of this place is its view of the city. It was built by Raja Bhillamraj Yadav of the Yadava dynasty in 1187. In 1327, Sultan Mohammad Bin Tughlaq captured Devgiri, renamed it Daulatabad, and even shifted his capital there for two years. However, due to shortage of water, the Tughlaqs abandoned the city and moved back to Delhi.
The fort later came under the Bahmani Sultanate, the Mughals, and the Marathas, with each dynasty adding layers of architecture and fortifications. In 1633, the Mughals finally captured Daulatabad after a prolonged siege, marking a turning point in Deccan history.
