Atal Foot Over Bridge, Ahmedabad, Gujarat

The Atal Foot Over Bridge is a pedestrian truss bridge built on the banks of the Sabarmati Riverfront on Sabarmati River which flows through Ahmedabad city of Gujarat, India. It is named after Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a former Prime Minister of India, and was inaugurated on August 27, 2022, by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

The Atal Foot Over Bridge is designed by STUP Consultants Ltd. and constructed by P. R. Infraprojects Ltd. The iconic Atal bridge is approximately 300 meters long and 14 meters wide, and it spans the Sabarmati River with an eye-catching design and LED lighting. It is a steel truss bridge with a suspended deck, and it is designed to withstand high winds and earthquakes. Approximately over about 2500 metric tonnes of steel pipes have been utilized in the construction of this foot-over bridge. It connects the west and east part of the Sabarmati Riverfront. It is a pedestrian-only foot-over bridge (FOB).

The Riverfront Foot Bridge serves as a popular tourist attraction and also provides a convenient and safe way for pedestrians to cross the river. The majestic kite-themed Atal pedestrian river bridge is lit up at night, and there are benches and kiosks along the bridge for visitors to rest and enjoy the views of the river and the city.

The Atal Pedestrian Bridge Ahmedabad was officially opened to public visits on August 27, 2022. 

Location

The Atal Foot Over Bridge is located on the banks of the Sabarmati Riverfront on Sabarmati River and is connected to the city center by Ashram Road. 

Timings

The Atal Foot-Over Bridge will remain open from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. All pedestrians and cyclists will be allowed only 30 minutes on the bridge.

Ticket Price:

The ticket price for Atal Pedestrian Bridge is 30 rupees for those who are 12 to 59 years old and 15 rupees for those who are 3 to 12 years old. Seniors must purchase Rs. 15 tickets if they are over 60. For those with disabilities and children under the age of three, access to the Atal Foot-Over bridge is free.

Parking is available near the Atal bridge. Visitors can find multi-level car parking on both sides of the Atal Bridge.
