The Rumi Darwaza, also known as the "Turkish Gate," is an imposing gateway in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Rumi Darwaza was one of the architectural projects undertaken by the fourth ruler of Awadh, Nawab Asaf-ud-Daulah, as part of his relief operations in 1783-84 to provide work and assistance to those affected by the famine in his state. The gateway is thought to have taken two years to build and was completed in 1786 at a cost of one crore rupees. This massive gate connects Bara Imambara and Chota Imambara.
