I visited Hatgad fort with my family and 5 year old kid during monsoon season. We took a shared taxi who dropped us at the point from where the trek starts. Initially you have to walk on motor-able road and then the staircase starts. The local provide bike service to drop you till stairs and from where you can start your trek towards the top of Hatgad fort. As it was monsoon season, we really enjoyed our trek and it is highly recommended for group especially during monsoon season.

Hatgad Fort is a historical monument which was built by Maratha king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Surrounded by green mountains, strong walls, hidden tunnels, and beautiful views of Saputara and the Dang forests, it is famous trekking place in this region. It is a mixed place of history, adventure, and nature, making it a favorite spot for trekkers, history lovers, families, and friends.
The fort is supposed to have been built in the 16th century and later used by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj as a fort to protect the route between Maharashtra and Gujarat. Old walls, water tanks, and a Shiva temple inside the fort are reminders of its historical past.
The fort is covered over a large sloped hilltop surrounded by tall forests. From the top, you get amazing views of Saputara Lake, the Dang area, and the Sahyadri mountains.
