Brihadeeswara Temple is located in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. This is one of the largest Hindu temples in India. This temple is also called Peruvudaiyar Kovil. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple was built in 1010 AD by the great Chola king Rajaraja Chola I. This temple was also added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1987.

One of the main attractions of the temple is a big statue of Nandi. The main tower (Vimana) is 216 ft high, and that is the tallest tower in the world. The Nandi statue is 13 ft high and 16 ft long. The overall structure of the temple is made out of granite.

The main entrances to the temple are beautiful structures with detailed artwork. One amazing attraction is the huge stone at the top of the tower. This stone weighs about 80 tons. This stone has been fitted to the top of the tower without any modern machines. The temple was built in just 7 years, which is incredible for its size and detail.

This temple still stands strong today, showing the power, skill, and culture of the Chola time.
