April to June and September to October are the best months. The route via Shimla and Kinnaur Valley (used in this package) remains open from April onwards, making it ideal for an early summer trip. The Manali–Kaza route opens later in June or July. Avoid July–August due to heavy monsoon rains and frequent landslides in Kinnaur.

Yes, absolutely. This package follows the safer Shimla–Kinnaur route to Spiti, which is more accessible and family-friendly compared to the Manali route. Children as young as 5 years have successfully completed this journey. We recommend consulting your doctor before travel as some locations exceed 4,000 metres. Carry enough water, warm clothing, and altitude sickness medication as a precaution.

This is a fully private tour. You travel in your own dedicated SUV with your private driver-guide. You will not be clubbed with other travellers. The itinerary can also be customised to suit your specific interests, travel pace or group size.

All travellers must carry original government-issued photo ID — Aadhaar Card, Passport or Driving Licence. This is mandatory for ITBP check posts at Sangla, Chitkul and the Lapcha Zero Point (India–China border). For Indian nationals, no special Inner Line Permit is required for most areas covered in this tour. We will assist with all documentation formalities.

The highest point on this tour is the Lapcha Zero Point at approximately 4,800 metres (15,300 feet). Other high-altitude stops include Hikkim Post Office at 4,440 metres (14,567 feet), Komic Village at 4,587 metres (15,050 feet), and Nako Lake at 3,662 metres (12,014 feet). We recommend drinking plenty of water, eating well, and ascending gradually to allow proper acclimatisation.

Local Spitian cuisine — dal, sabzi, roti, and rice — is inherently simple and largely vegetarian. We specifically select accommodation that caters well to vegetarian families, making this package ideal for travellers from Gujarat and other vegetarian-preferring communities.

Pack warm layers even in April–June — temperatures can drop to -5°C or below at night in Kaza and Tabo. Essential items: thermal innerwear, a heavy fleece or down jacket, warm socks and gloves, a good sunscreen (SPF 50+), sunglasses, a hat, a water bottle (carry 2–3 litres per day), basic medicines including altitude sickness tablets (Diamox — consult your doctor), and comfortable walking shoes. A portable power bank is useful as charging points can be limited at remote home stays.
