Before we share more information about Statue of Equality, let us first share the thoughts about why Statue of equality is needed or built?
The only motive and the very purpose of “The Statue of Equality” is to promote the thought of equality across the castes in India. In the time of Shri Ramanujacharya (Ra:ma:nu:jacha:rya), there was a great importance of temple which were functioning as a centres of administration. But there was a control of one section of society (one caste) who were looking at the administration part. Ramanujacharya encouraged them to allot at least 50% of tasks to people belonging to rest of the castes. This is why, there were no restrictions on any caste to enter into the temple.

The Story Behind the Statue of Equality:

But during the British rule on India, the caste-ism has increased due to divide and rule strategy and even today, there are lot of challenges because of it. The very purpose of The Statue of Equality is to inspire society to bring the equality across all castes in India. The statue promotes below thoughts about equality:

TThe “Statue of Equality” is a historic and inspirational landmark that reflects the cultural, spiritual, and philosophical legacy of Bharat. Inaugurated in February 2022 by our Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, in the esteemed presence of Former President of India Shri Ramnath Kovind Ji, this monument is a proud symbol of India’s values and heritage.

Conceptualized by HH Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji, the statue commemorates the 1000th birth anniversary of the great 11th-century social reformer, Jagadguru Bhagavad Ramanujacharya — (Acharya to Lord Sri Venkateswara of Tirumala).

Crores of visitors from across the globe have already experienced the spiritual bliss and architectural grandeur this place offers. On behalf of the This monument not only represents harmony and equality but is also one of the world’s tallest metallic sitting statues at 216 feet, crafted in Panchaloha (five-metal alloy). It is a beacon of unity and a growing global spiritual and cultural attraction.

Located in the premises of Chinna Jeeyar Trust in Muchintal in the outskirt of Hyderabad, can be easily reached through private or public transportation.

Brief About Shri Ramanujacharya:

Sri Ramanujacharya was a popular philosopher from India who lived in the 11th century. He was born in the state of Tamil Nadu and is known for his extensive writings on the Bhagavad Gita, the Upanishads, and the Brahma Sutras. He is considered the founder of the Sri Vaishnavism movement, which emphasizes the worship of Lord Vishnu and his consort, Sri Devi. Ramanujacharya's teachings emphasized the importance of devotion, self-surrender, and the attainment of salvation through the grace of God.

The statue of Sri Ramanujacharya was erected in Sri Rangam, which is considered one of the most sacred places in India for Sri Vaishnavites. It depicts Sri Ramanujacharya sitting in a meditative pose, with his hands in the Anjali mudra, a gesture of devotion and respect. The statue is located in a park, and visitors can walk around it and take photos.

Architecture:

The 216-ft Statue of Equality is made of a combination of five metals known as 'panchaloha' - gold, silver, brass, copper, and zinc. The statue is rest on 54-foot-high base building named 'Bhadra Vedi'. The statue sits over this lotus-shaped platform containing an animal sculpture called Padma Peetam. It is estimated around INR 1000 crore to built this statue and most part of it was paid through the donation of devotees.
