About Pangong Tso (Pangong Lake)

Pangong Lake is one of the highest saltwater lakes on the planet. Pangong Lake, also known as Pangong Tso, sits serenely at an elevation of 14,270 feet. The lake is approximately 5 km wide at its widest point and approximately 134 km long. Furthermore, no one knows how deep Pangong Lake is, though it is estimated to be around 300 feet. Pangong Lake has naturally piqued the interest of geologists. However, it rose to prominence after appearing in the 2009 Bollywood film "The 3 Idiots," starring Aamir Khan. It now attracts an average of 1,000 tourists per day!


How to reach Pangong

By Air

The nearest international airport is Srinagar International Airport, which is approximately a twelve-hour drive from Pangong. This airport has direct flights to and from major cities such as Jammu, New Delhi, Mumbai, Leh, Amritsar, and Bangalore.

By Rail

Leh does not have any railway station. The nearby railway station is Jammu, which is 540 kilometres away from Pangong. This railhead is excellently connected with trains from other major cities such as New Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Jaipur Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Dehradun, and Kanyakumari.

By Road

Pangong is well connected with excellent road network.
