The Adiyogi statue is a symbol of yoga and spirituality, and its name Adiyogi which means "the first yogi", pays homage to the ancient practice of yoga.
This statue was Inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February 2017 on Mahashivratri, the Adiyogi statue is owned and maintained by the Isha Foundation, and the event also marked the release of the companion book Adiyogi: The Source of Yoga and an anthem sung by Kailash Kher, with lyrics by Prasoon Joshi. The Isha Foundation organizes Traditional Music and Dance events on every Amavasya and Purnima night. On these days, the timings for visiting the statue are extended until 12:00 PM. A beautiful 14-minute 3D laser light show called “Divya Darshanam” is shown on the statue every weekend and on festival nights. This show first started in February 2019.
Every year, the Isha Yoga Center organizes a divine and powerful Mahashivratri celebration with Sadhguru. The 2025 Mahashivratri event, titled “A Night With The Divine,” was held on 26th February 2025, from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am IST. Devotees from around the world joined the celebration either in person at the Isha Yoga Center or online through the official live stream.
