Adalaj ni vav or Adalaj stepwell or stepped ponds is located at Adalaj village, 18 kms from Ahemdabad city, Gujarat. “Adalaj stepwell” is excellent historical heritage place in Gujarat which is famous for unique and excellent construction of step well. It was built in 1499 by queen Rudabai, wife of Vaghela chief, Veersinh ji in Adalaj village. The main purpose of Rudabai to build this step well was to solve the problem of water for villagers. The step well is having five stories and built in Solanky architecture style which is the best example of Indo - Islamic architecture and design.

Walls & pillars of well was design with pictures of birds, flowers, leaves and fish. Sunlight does not directly touch the steps and ground except noon, hence inside environment of well is much cooler than outside.
