Nagarhole National Park also known as Rajiv Gandhi Tiger Reserve is a popular tiger reserve area located in Karnataka. Nagarhole is famous for its diverse landscape with rich forest cover, hills, and waterfalls.

For wildlife enthusiasts, Nagarhole National Park is a must visit destination. The park is home to a variety of wildlife animals, such as Panthera Tiger, Leopards, Gaur, Sambar, Chital, Wild Pig, Four Horned Antelope, Indian Elephant, Wild Boar, Gray Langur, Indian Giant Flying Squirrel, Indian Mongoose, Asian Civet, and more.

Nagarhole is recognized as an important bird area, over 200 bird species live here, such as the Blue Bearded Bee Eater, Eagle, White-Rumped Vulture, Nilgiri Wood Pigeon, Grey-Headed Eagle, Hornbill, Indian Scimitar Babbler, Indian Robin, Indian Peafowl, and many others.

The Indian Mugger and more than 32 species of snakes are found here. When it comes to flora, Nagarhole National Park boasts over 150 types of trees.

  • Iruppu Falls (16 KM): Iruppu Falls is located in the Bramhgiri range in Kodagu. This is an ideal spot for nature lovers.  
  • Shri Mrityunjaya Swami Temple (30 KM): This is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. This temple is popular for its peaceful atmosphere and scenic beauty.
  • Sree Thirunelli Mahavishnu Temple (22 KM): Sree Thirunelli Mahavishnu Temple is an ancient temple of Lord Vishnu. This temple is also known as “Kashi of South” and it is one of the 108 holy places of Vishnu.
  • Kabini Dam (20 KM): This dam was constructed in 1974 on the Kabini River.  This dam offers scenic views and is famous for birdwatching.
  • Dubare elephant camp (60 Km): This park is managed by the Karnataka Forest Department. Recently this camp has evolved into a popular ecotourism destination. This is a training ground for elephants who participate in Mysore Festival.
  • Sri Chikka Devammana Betta Gudi (40 KM): The temple is situated on a hilltop in Kundur Village. This temple is dedicated to Chikka Devamma, sister of the goddess Chamundeshwari. It is a popular pilgrimage site known for its panoramic views.
