It is a beginner-level trek near the charming hill station of Mussoorie in the Tehri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand and is famous for its beautiful sunsets from the campsite and amazing views from the top. This trek is a really fun experience for all trekkers as it is open for the better part of the year and can be done by anyone with a basic level of fitness.

Nag Tibba is located at an altitude of 3,022 metres (9,915 feet). The trek starts from a small village called Pantwari, winds through thick oak and rhododendron forests, crosses open meadows, and ends at a highest point that gives you an amazing view of peaks like Bandarpoonch, Kedarnath, and the Gangotri range.

History of Nag Tibba:

Nag Tibba" means “Serpent's Peak” and the name actually comes from local Garhwali culture. A temple dedicated to Nag Devta (the serpent god) stands near the top, where villagers pray for the protection of their plants and animals. The path has been used by shepherds and locals for centuries. People from cities discovered it only about years ago, and the news spread quickly.

Camping in Nag Tibba:

Camping is honestly the soul of this trek. The base camp is located in an open meadow around forested hillsides. Most trek operators set up dome tents, provide sleeping bags, and arrange hot meals like dal, rice, sabzi, sometimes even Maggi and hot soup at night.

Nights can get cold, especially in winter. Temperatures can drop to -5°C or even lower in December and January. So if you're planning a winter camping trip, make sure your sleeping bag and jacket are warm enough. The campfire in the evening makes everything worth it.

Camping Tip: Carry a water bottle that can handle hot liquids. Most campsites provide hot water, but having your own bottle is always more convenient on the trail.
