Minakshi Temple is Beautiful and famous Temple in madurai, Tamil nadu. The temple is believed to be over 2,500 years old. It was built where King Malayadwaja Pandya saw the spiritual Suyambulingam. This temple is also called Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple.

This temple construction was largely built during the 16th century by King Thirumalai Nayak. It is committed to Goddess Meenakshi (a form of Parvati) and her partner, Lord Sundareswarar (a form of Shiva).

This temple has 14 colorful gopurams (gateway towers) decorated with thousands of statues. The temple area covers over 14 acres. The most famous hall is the Aayiram Kaal Mandapam with beautifully made stone pillars. Many pillars are about 12–15 feet tall. The temple has a Holy lake called Porthamarai Kulam (Golden Lotus Pond).
