The rituals of Bohag Bihu are truly something special and worth experiencing!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The celebrations begin with <strong>Goru Bihu<\/strong>, the worship of cows. Cows play an important role in Assamese agriculture and rural life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After this comes <strong>Manuh Bihu<\/strong>, the main day of celebration when people wear new clothes, seek blessings from elders, and take part in cultural activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the highlights of the festival is <strong>Husori<\/strong>, a traditional group performance where young men and women sing and dance together while visiting homes in the community. The performances are accompanied by traditional instruments like the <strong>dhol (drum)<\/strong>, <strong>pepa (buffalo horn pipe)<\/strong>, and <strong>gagana (a traditional bamboo instrument)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The cheerful <strong>Bihu Geet (folk songs)<\/strong> and <strong>Bihu Jhumur dances<\/strong> add even more excitement to the celebrations. The clothes worn during this festival are not just about looking good \u2014 they show the pride and love people have for their culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Women wear the beautiful <strong>Muga silk Mekhela Chador<\/strong>, a traditional two-piece Assamese dress known for its elegance and cultural significance. They also wear traditional Assamese jewellery and place the <strong>Kopouphul (Foxtail Orchid \u2014 Assam&#8217;s state flower)<\/strong> in their hair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Men usually wear a <strong>white dhoti and a Muga silk shirt<\/strong>, along with a traditional <strong>Bihuwan (Gamosa)<\/strong> tied around their head or neck. The <strong>gamosa<\/strong> is a white cotton cloth with red woven borders and is one of the most recognised symbols of Assamese culture.
