Triund, Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh

Triund is a small hill station famous for various trekking routes that can lead you to Lahesh caves, laka glacier, and many beautiful spots around. Located at the Dhauladhar range near Dharamshala, Triund is one of the most popular destinations amongst tourists and adventure lovers.

Triund trek is defined as a peaceful tramp which can be certainly completed by nearly all age groups. It has a unique byroad that goes through an attractively diversified forest of oak, deodar, and rhododendron. Situated in the circles of the Dhauladhar Mountains, it has an impeccable view of them on one side and Kangra Valley on another. Being a well-known and comparatively easy trekking path, it has pretty good footfall every year from India and abroad. Though it is a good idea to climb up the trek while enjoying the scenic beauty but if you are unable to climb up all the way then you can rent a horse/pony and enjoy the ride.

The trek begins from Galu, yet there are numerous alternatives available to reach Galu. You can hire a taxi from McLeodganj to Galu or start trekking from McLeodganj itself. Trek can also be begun from Bhagsu Nag. Remember it is located about 10 kilometers from the busy city center of McLeodganj. The trek from McLeodganj to Triund is a sharp one of over 1100 meters. You will enjoy the Tibetan’s culture as well. The local people are supportive and do taste the native cuisines.
