Ranka Monastery is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery located near Gangtok, The capital of Sikkim. This place is also known as Dharmachakra Centre. It is a Buddhist ecclesiastical fortification of learning, lineage, and Sadhana in Sikkim.

It was constructed in the 16th century by the 9th Karmapa Wangchuk and then repaired by the late 16th Gyalwa Karmapa. The Rumtek Monastery architecture is a three-story structure. The monastery has a magnificent main temple. It has a monastic college where the Sixteenth Karmapa's relics are kept. There is also a golden stupa and a stunning Buddha statue at the monastery. The Rumtek Monastery is open to visitors seven days a week. The hours are 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

By Air

The nearest airport to Rumtek is Bagdogra Airport in West Bengal. You can drive to Gangtok and then to Rumtek Monastery from there.

By Train

The nearest railway station is Siliguri or New Jalpaiguri (NJP), from whence you can drive to Gangtok. It takes approximately 4-5 hours.

By Road
