Way back in the 1920s the queen regent of the princely state of Travancore, the present Thiruvananthapuram, decided to set up a resort by the beach at Kovalam, about 15 km away from the city. And by the 1970s it was one of the popular joints on the ‘hippie trail.’

Reaching Kovalam
Kovalam is about 12kms from the Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station. And about 13 kms from the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport. You can easily get local transportation or can hire a taxi to reach Kovalam from Trivendrum airport or railway station. Road condition is very good and can be reached within half an hour if the traffic is normal.
Mode of transport
There are frequent buses that pass through Kovalam. You can hire a taxi or an autorickshaw. Mango cabs are the best option when it comes to cab services.
